RCUK announces block grant conditions

On Nov 8th the Research Coucils UK (RCUK) announced the conditions of the block grants they will be allocating UK HEIs to support RCUK Open Access policy released earlier this year and enable outputs of their funded research projects to be published Open Access. Block grant details were offered for an initial two-year funding period (Apr 1, 2013 - Mar 31, 2015) and it was also announced that an interim review will be carried out in 2014.

euroCRIS membership meeting in Madrid

The 2012 euroCRIS Autumn membership meeting was held at the Residencia de Estudiantes in Madrid on Nov 5-6. Co-organised by euroCRIS, GrandIR and the Spanish Foundation of Science and Technology (FECYT), the event hosted over 80 research information management professionals in order to discuss CERIF-based CRIS implementation. The event Special Topic session was dedicated to Persistent Identifiers and ORCID.

Europe PMC is launched

On Nov 1st the UK PubMed Central Service has been rebranded to Europe PMC. As a result of a growing number of European funders (including the EU European Research Council) joining UKPMC, the Open Access subject-based portal for biomedicine and biotechnology has now spread to the whole European Union and so has its Europe PMC plus feature for managing grants and publications.
