Managing research information in the physical sciences: a report

The third in a series of studies on subject-specific research information management practices carried out by the Research Information Network (RIN), the 'Collaborative yet Independent' report focuses on the challenges researchers from the physical sciences and related fields face regarding research information management. Specific needs in seven research environments are analysed and a series of recommendations to funders, publishers, libraries and learned societies follow. Previous reports dealt with information management in the Life Sciences and the Humanities.

PEER Economics Research report published

The PEER European Project has recently released its Economics research report, produced by the PEER Economics Research Team at ASK Research Center, Bocconi University, Milan. The report addresses the impact of Open Access (OA) and OA repositories on the scholarly publishing environment from an economic perspective and investigates the effect of large-scale deposit on scholarly research publication and dissemination.

SWORD: Facilitating Deposit Scenarios

The article "SWORD: Facilitating Deposit Scenarios" by Stuart Lewis, University of Auckland, Pablo de Castro, GrandIR and Richard Jones, CottageLabs, has been published in the January/February issue of D-Lib Magazine (Vol 18, Number 1/2). The paper examines the application of SWORD to facilitate the interoperable deposit of resources into systems such as repositories.

The OASCIR Project at KMCA2012 Workshop in Khartoum

The OASCIR Project for setting up and developing the first Sudanese Institutional Repository at the Faculty of Science University of Khartoum will be delivering an invited talk at the KMCA2012 Workshop: "Knowledge Management Capacity in Africa: Harnessing Tools for Development and Innovation" will be held Jan 4-7th in Khartoum.

APE2012 Meeting in Berlin

On Jan 24-25 the Seventh Edition of the 'Academic Publishing in Europe' Conference will be held at the Berlin Brandenburg Academy of Sciences in Berlin. This year the APE meeting programme will be very much about collection, managing and publishing of data in relation to STM publishing.

'Managing Research Data' book to be published Jan 2012 by Facet Publishing

Edited by Graham Pryor, DCC, the book 'Managing Research Data' will be released next month by Facet Publishing.
