Setup

As the first module of its array of technical support services for institutional repository projects, GrandIR offers an out-of-the-box installation service of open source software for running institutional repositories. For the moment support for software installation will be restricted to various versions of DSpace (with version 1.6.2 as recommended one), but there are plans for extending support to alternative open source platforms such as EPrints or Greenstone in the near future.

For a compared analysis of various softwares -either open source or commercial- available for repository installation, the results of the Nov'2010 Repository Software Survey carried out by JISC's Repository Support Project (RSP) in the UK are available here.
