GrandIR Technical sessions
Technical session: "Advances in Research Data Management in Spain"
(Summary and conclusions report available in PDF format)
Jointly organised with the UPC Library Service (SBD), a new GrandIR workshop on RDM initiatives in Spain was held on May 10th in Barcelona. The technical session took place from 10 to 15 hrs at the Master Classroom (Building A3), UPC Campus Nord. This 4th GrandIR session aimed to discuss the difficulties and the recent advances in setting up institutional initiatives for primary research data management and publication in Spain.
As usual, the session was specifically addressed to the community of research information management professionals working in the area of Open Access and repositories, but when dealing with RDM it is particularly relevant as well to listen to what researchers have to say about their perceived needs in the RDM area along their daily activity. Therefore, the programme for the session joined up research information-focused organisations and professionals and a research-oriented approach. The former was represented by organisations such as the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT), which delivered its approach to the European OpenAIREplus Project aimed to enhance the already existing OpenAIRE infrastructure with RDM initiatives based on the 'Enhanced publications' concept, plus the Working Group on Data Repositories funded by Recolecta, while the latter featured presentations by Data Centres such as the Marine Technology Unit's (UTM-CSIC), plus a representation of researchers who provided their vision on what worklines should be followed by RDM organisation for the country.
