Forthcoming GrandIR technical sessions - proposals
Some ideas are exposed below for further GrandIR technical sessions. Four work sessions have been held so far: one on Open Access general-purpose issues on June 2011, other on research data management in STM disciplines on Aug 2011, a third one on CRIS Systems, institutional repositories and their interoperability and a last one on progress in research data management initiatives in Spain. Besides these, a number of additional technical sessions are presently in the pipeline:
Usage – the state of the art
Several projects have been recently dealing with repository and Open Access usage harmonisation (such as PIRUS2 in the UK or OAS -Open Access Statistik- in Germany). At the same time, various initiatives are presently taking place in Spain –such as the RepoStats Project being developed by FECYT or the current GrandIR campaign for spreading usage module implementation in Institutional Repositories- with the very same goal of normalising statistical output from Open Access repositories. A technical session is thus being planned for discussing the ways in which these developments might eventually be applied to research assessment and the technical challenges faced by repository managers to implement and exploit usage modules.
